Project Engineer II will conduct device development, design and testing activities in the CPSI Biotech cryomedical device project group. Typical product designs involve cryogenic fluids, electromechanical components. An individual able to thrive in a fast paced small business, project driven, innovative technology development environment will be well-suited for this position. Independent and team-based work will be required.

Role and Responsibilities

This position includes hands-on engineering and project management. This position is responsible for the day-to-day execution of engineering and testing activities related to the development of working proof-of-concept cryogenic devices and other medical and research devices.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct day-to-day project execution and management
  • Manage and meet project milestones and timelines
  • Design and build prototype/pre-alpha devices, requiring precise ability to solder and assemble small components.
  • Create and update CAD technical drawings (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Development of new system to meet performance specifications and implement new device features
  • Test prototype builds and troubleshoot failure modes
  • Design test models and experiments to conduct testing under real-world applications in a lab environment (DOE)
  • Assemble and maintain documentation
  • Analyze testing results, generate reports and design documents
  • Meet strict external specification, technology performance milestone and project deadlines
  • Determine product specifications and interact with suppliers, parts sourcing, and ordering

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline

Experience in product development or design

Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to execute work on multiple projects, coordinating priorities and deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel , PowerPoint)
  • Experience with medical device industry and quality systems highly desirable
  • Ability to create technical drawings, CAD and specifications (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Experience with statistics and data analysis
  • Prototype building experience
  • Excellent fine motor skills and ability to solder
  • Experience with 3-D Printing (Stratasys GrabCAD)
  • Prototype design experience
  • Strong analytical judgment
  • Detail oriented, organized and effective
  • Excellent team player
